Food for Thought looks at some of the key issues the world’s governments
considered in Rome at the 1996 World Food Summit; land reform in Nepal,
revival of traditional farming in Zimbabwe: monsoon harvesting in India.
The six featured stories can be shown as separate items, or together as a
single programme in ‘chapters’. TVE’s new weekly environmental series, Earth Report, was launched in March 1996 on BBC World television’s satellite service. Introduced by Sir David Altenborough – whose award-winning natural history series Life on Earth, Trials of Life and Life in the Freezer are among the top-selling, most popular programmes in the BBC’s programme repertoire-Earth Report provides a regular update on the state of the planet.
